Benjamin Britten’s Comic Opera “Albert Herring” a Coming-Of-Age Story at the Princeton Festival

A reluctant May King, a meddling mother, refreshing libations, and liberation combine for a hilarious coming-of-age story.

Sung in English and partly set in an English country garden, Benjamin Britten's comic opera “Albert Herring” opera is ideally suited to take center stage under the 10,000 square-foot performance tent on the grounds of Morven Museum & Garden. The Princeton Symphony Orchestra presents “Albert Herring” on June 17 and 19 at 7 pm at this year's Princeton Festival.

The cast hails from the US and Europe and is performing alongside local talent from Westminster Choir College and Westrick Music Academy. Princeton Symphony Orchestra Music Director Rossen Milanov conducts. We spoke to Milanov and Lewis Jacobson Wasden from the Princeton Boys Choir who plays Harry.

Celebrating 40 Years of the New Jersey Governor's Awards in Arts Education

Last month, the New Jersey Governor’s Awards in Arts Education celebrated its 40th year. The program was created to promote awareness and appreciation for the arts by honoring individual students, and to honor education leaders who have demonstrated excellence in, and dedication to, arts education. Usually held at the historic Patriots Theater at the War Memorial, this year’s awards ceremony, like so many other arts events, moved online.
