On display through May 17, this exhibition features 65 works by 45 artists and is the first by a major museum to examine art from the decade in a historical context.
Imagine walking into an art gallery and finding a giant, yellow shoe sitting in the middle of the room. Nearby is a goat made completely out of children’s toys. There’s a lamp fashioned from a clarinet and a spaghetti strainer and grotesque figures crafted completely from masking tape. Such is the scene at “The Neo-Outsider: The New Outsider Artist,” an eclectic exhibit on display thru September 7.
“Coastal Impressions” at Morven Museum and Garden in Princeton showcases works by a group of artists who lived, worked and found inspiration from the coastal area of New Jersey. Writer Shen Shellenberger talks about the exhibit, as well as the history of the mansion and grounds and the goal to illuminate the history and culture of New Jersey.
Joan Snyder speaks about her expressionistic prints and paintings, which will be highlighted at the Zimmerli Art Museum.
