When photography was still in its infant stages in the late 1800s, many people working in the new medium stayed inside and focused on taking portraits. But not Guillermo Thorn. A Plainfield resident who traveled New Jersey, Thorn captured what the Garden State looked like in the decades after the Civil War. Some of his photographs are currently on display at Richard Stockton College’s Noyes Museum of Art.
