Artist Dion Hitchings just opened a new solo exhibit at the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft. The show, "Dion Hitchings, Portraits on Recycled Consumer Boxes," be on view until September 18.

The Neo-Outsider at Monmouth Museum
Imagine walking into an art gallery and finding a giant, yellow shoe sitting in the middle of the room. Nearby is a goat made completely out of children’s toys. There’s a lamp fashioned from a clarinet and a spaghetti strainer and grotesque figures crafted completely from masking tape. Such is the scene at “The Neo-Outsider: The New Outsider Artist,” an eclectic exhibit on display thru September 7.
The Monmouth Museum Celebrates 50 Years
Founded in 1963 as a “Museum of Ideas” – rather than establishing a permanent collection – the Monmouth Museum presents a regularly-changing series of art, history, and science exhibitions in its gallery spaces and children’s wings. The Museum is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year with special exhibitions and events throughout 2013 to reflect their “Circle of Gold” theme.
